In the fall of 2023, I decided to undertake a ten-week project: heading out every weekend to camp by lakes. I wanted to take the shortest possible hikes to spots where I could pitch my tent, build a fire, and enjoy sitting by a lake and soaking in the tranquility. Part of this was to experience what it would be like to be outdoors from late summer into fall as the weather grew colder. Another part was discovering beautiful places, and I decided in advance that I would change locations every time. I came to call this “Tent and Fire” and decided that, regardless of the weather, I would do this every Saturday and experience what it’s like to be out in nature, sleeping and waking up after an evening by the fire.
